Productive Weekend

Wow, I've had a productive weekend. I've gotten 3 or 4 more Christmas cards added to the pile. I should be done soon at this rate. As surfing goes, I happened upon this blog today and found this sketch (I LOVE SKETCHES)!! There is SO much out there to inspire your creativity, thank goodness. I'd be lost without it I think!!

Bbrrrrrr...

what a frosty cold morning here today. It is putting me in the winter spirit, which means baking, crafting and Christmas cards!! I revisited a blog I had in my list of favorites but haven't been to in a long time this morning. Spend some time there and look at all her beautiful work, you may need a cup of coffee for this!! She has a sketch challenge up and this is the card I made for it... I just love this old Santa image and he goes so perfectly with this Cosmo Cricket paper. I just love the glitter in his beard.
Well, I think I'll go turn on my oven and make a batch of cookies. Spend a nice cold, sunny day at home in my nest. Maybe I'll get another card or two made as well. Wouldn't that be nice!!

Hey...

Well, I found a brand new card challenge blog today, Cardalicious. I love a card challenge, and this weeks challenge is a shaped card. Anything but a square or rectangle. Here's my shaped card. Used Doodlebug Stickers with glitter and Ranger Liquid Pearls. Kaiser black jewels make his face and buttons. His limbs are cut from chipboard and painted brown. Thanks for stopping by!

Boo

to you on this very scary Halloween day!! It is a beautiful sunshiney day here, hope it's not too cold tonight for the Halloweeners!! Our pumpkins are carved, the candy is ready to go and my kids are pumped. It is an in-service day our their school and they've been home all day. Boy, those teachers sure know the right days to hold their in-services, don't they!!

Here's my card for this weeks 2S4Y sketch. It is a fantastic sketch and one that I could use over and over.

A couple more Christmas cards.

Well, my funk is at least helping me get a jump on Christmas cards. This first one I made for this weeks 2S4Y sketch this week. I am not usually a blue Christmas card kind of gal, but I had these little tree stickers and thought I'd use some silver paper I had and voila, this is the result.

Here's another one I did from a different sketch, just using up some old Melissa Frances stuff!!
Hope you all have a very creative weekend. Remember to celebrate World Cardmaking Day!!!

Just a little Christmas card

I think I've decided that in order to get my mojo back I need to clean out and go shopping. Our LSS closed down about a year and a half ago and I've only been shopping a handful of times since then. I've been working on using up my stash, but quite frankly, I am SICK of my stash. I need some new stuff!!!!!!!

Here's a card I did for Creative Journey sketch challenge this week. She is one seriously , talented lady. If you haven't checked out her blog, you should!! Here's a link to the sketch. Plus she is also offering up some sweet blog candy for hitting 20,000 posts!!

I hope you like my card using her sketch, here it is!!

LOST: MOJO ----- NEEDED: INSPIRATION

Well, anyone want a whole lotta scrap stuff? I just feel like packing up my craft room and getting rid of it all. I need some inspiration these days. I don't even like going into my room anymore. Anyone ever feel this way?? How did you get yourself out of a slump like that? I did manage to squeek out this card from the latest sketch at 2S4Y this week.

I've been wanting to try beading lately. Not jewellery, but maybe some Christmas ornaments and such. I've seen some really pretty snowflakes lately that I'd like to make. If anyone has any patterns or knows of any great sites, please let me know. I need a new "drug" so to speak!!!

Thanks for listening to me complain!!

Rain, rain go away...

Man, has August sucked in your part of the world as much as it has sucked here??? We've had a terrible month. It is pouring rain today. Our pool has so much water in it we need to drain some out. Our vacation starts Sunday and I do hope there is a turn in the weather. I've been watching the 14 day trend on the Weather Network and it is only showing one day next week with scattered showers. I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed for sun. We will be at our cottage which is on the ocean. I can't wait to smell that salt water breeze. It always restores my soul to be there. It is my little bit of heaven on earth.
Here's my card for this week's sketch at my favorite sketch site--2 Sketches 4 You. Laura has created another great sketch. These girls just keep rockin' them out!! And now that we have all the DT sample to drool over, it is even BETTER!!!

Kazan's Sketch 5

Here's my take on Kazan's Sketch this week. There is so much inspiration there, they've truly brought back my interest in cardmaking. I was really thinking I had had enough of this hobby until they came along. Now i can't wait to see each week's sketch. If you've been living under a rock for the past 10 weeks, go check them out.

Happy Monday!

Hope ya'll had a great weekend. I worked all weekend so I am having my weekend now, and boy is it wet!! What a rain we had today, it's good though, it is desperately needed!

I am really bummed out and mad at myself. I had full intentions of submitting for the 2S4Y DT call and had my cards made almost immediately after it was announced. I thought the deadline was July 26th so I hadn't submitted my cards yet. Then last night while checking things out, I realized the deadline was July 19, DOH (said in my best Homer Simpson voice)!!! What a dummy. Oh well, hopefully they'll put another call out in 3 months. I definitely won't fool around then!! Anyway, here are the cards I made for their DT challenge. I can't wait to see who they pick for their team, I am sure it will be amazing.

Laura's Sketch #4

Well, another amazing sketch created by Laura and Kazan. This week Laura contributed her sketch and here is my take on her sketch. These girls are amazing and are producing some of the nicest sketchs I've ever seen. Hope you like it, thanks for stopping by!! I appreciate all your sweet comments, they make my day!!

CPS #73

Wow, I've been a cardmaking fool this weekend. I haven't had a creative streak like this for a long, long time! Some I can't post yet, but I will when I can. I made this card for CPS #73. I don't always get to play along with their sketches but I was in a groove!! I like this one but you cannot tell from teh photo that the cream layer is popped off of the green layer. It looks nicer in real life. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Saturday!

What a glorious day it is shaping up to be. Our humidity finally broke yesterday and today looks beautiful. I hate the humidity, it takes all the good out of me.

Here's this weeks take on 2 Sketches 4 You. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am ADDICTED. I can't believe I made a Christmas card and it's only July. That'll probably be the only one til October, ha. I just love this paper though and had to use it. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Better late than never...

I guess. I made this card last Saturday to put up for the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch challenge, but I was having camera issues and the photo wouldn't upload. Oh well, I wanted to post it anyway!! Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Hey, hey!!

Well, seems like all I blog about lately is 2 Sketches 4 You!! haha. Love those sketches. Here's this weeks interpretation of Kazan's sketch. I used a mish mash of stuff; some Scenic Route, some Daisy D's, some Basic Grey and various flowers and ribbon. I am not sure if the scallops are working here or not, I really liked the direction it was heading in until I added them, now I am unsure.

I got some awesome news on Friday...I've got a job, hurrah!! It is a one year term position at a nearby hospital. I am so excited, my hard work in school this past year has paid off!!

2S4U

Here's this week's card for 2 Sketches 4 You. This week Laura came up with an awesome sketch. When I first saw it I thought it might be a bit of a challenge, but I received a store bought graduation card in the mail from my sister-in-law and the minute I saw it, I was inspired to make this card. I used the same verse that was on the store bought card and new I needed a card with a grad cap on it. So here it is!! I love the black and white polka dot theme!! The 'm' is the graduate's initial.

Note: Just wanted to shout out for Canadian Scrapbookers Blog Carnival. My card is featured for July. If you'd like to have your blog featured, just send Jacqueline an email. I am sure she'd love to hear from you. Lots of talent in this great country of ours, lets show it off!!!

CPS #69 and a Challenge

I just finished a card for the CPS #69 sketch, easy sketch to work with. The colors are a bit brighter in real life, a little washed out in this photo.
This next card is for a card challenge on another site. I have to send this out to someone this week, ssshhh. I love the black and white combo, it makes such great cards.

Happy Friday...

Well, I finally graduated from a fantastic year of school this week. My graduation was on Tuesday and I am proud to say that I graduated with honours. I am so glad I went back to school, even if I don't get my dream job, I had a terrific year and met lots of great people and wouldn't trade the experience for the world.

I have a little card to share today. This is for the 2 Sketches 4 You blog. Check it out if you haven't already, these girls come up with fantastic sketches. I am hooked. I used up some old MM and Doodlebug papers and some felt flowers. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. Now I just need a baby boy to give it to. That could be the tricky part!!!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Sunshine galore!!

OK, here they are!

Here are the little cards I made with the 2 Sketches 4 You blog sketches. I am in a 3 X 3 card swap on Lil Scrappers and these are just three of the little cuties I made. These were great sketches to work with I've gotta say!!

New Sketch Site

During my early morning blog surfing I discovered this fantastic new sketch blog. It is
2 Sketches 4 You. Don't walk, RUN to check out this great blog. They just started on Sunday and if the first 2 sketches are any indication, it's going to be a great site for inspiration. I know I LOVE sketches!! I am going to play with them today. My kids just got on the bus and my honey is working and I am home alone all day, Yayyyyyy. I'll post my creations later, gotta go play!!!

I just wish I could make their blinkie work on my blog! Can someone help me out?

Shabby Chic

Here's a card I made for a Shabby Chic challenge a week or so ago over at Lil Scrappers. I like how it turned out, I love the Shabby Chic look. I used some Melissa Frances papers and a MM frame I've had hangin' around.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

A dreary Sunday and I .....

should be spending it getting some chores done, but I hate chores!!! haha. I'd rather be playing in my happy place. I just made a card this morning for the CPS #67. Not sure how closely it resembles it, but it was a starting point anyway. I thought this was kind of cute for my honey for father's day from teh kids. Inside it says "We do, That's HOO, Happy Father's Day." He'll like it.

For a friend

who just lost her mother after a long battle with cancer. What a terrible time to lose your mother, just before Mother's Day. I used 7gypsies paper and made the bird myself. Hug your loved ones this weekend.

Mother's Day...

is just around the corner and I've got to get these cards in the mail. I don't think they'll make it on time. I am such a bad daughter!!!

This is for my mother, I took the sketch off a great new sketch site I found, too bad I can't read anything on it, haha!! Here's the sketch I loosely based my card on.

Hope you all have a fantastic Mother's Day and get all the spoiling you deserve!!!

What a glorious Sunday

I can't wait to get out in the sunshine today. I think I might do some window washing today and finish up that dang mountain of laundry.

Here's a card I made from a card kit swap on Lil Scrappers, I sent this same product to Carla, I can't wait to see what she made with it. This was made from Cosmo Cricket papers and their black chipboard (love that stuff)!!

Get out there and enjoy this day, I hope you are all having as fabulous a day as we are!!

WISH card.

Hey all, happy weekend everyone! It is supposed to be a gorgeous weekend here. I need to get caught up on laundry and housework, but I do hope I find some time to spend in the glorious sun.

Here's a card I did for a 'card kit challenge' on Lil Scrappers last month. Carla made up two identical card kits for both her and I and we were to create a card. Here's Carla's version and here's mine
I sent a kit to her but I've not had time to make anything with it yet and not sure if she has either! haha. Oh well, off to get started on that mountain of laundry.

What a beautiful day!

I am playing hookie from school today, only 4 more days left, I can't believe how fast the time has flown. It's seems like my first day of school was just last week. I've got a few loose ends to tie up at school and then I am free....then I need to find a job, haha!! I can't wait to start making my own paycheque again.

Here is a card I did as a sketch challenge on Carla's blog. She's always got some pretty neat challenges going on there. She is super talented, too. I always love seeing her latest work. I think you all have until the 18th to take part in her sketch challenge, go on and check it out.

Now that I look at this card, it seems very flat to me, I usually add more dimension than this to my cards, oh well, c'est la vie!! Thanks for the challenge Carla.

Flight of Fancy

Starting today, Caardvarks is having a Flight of Fancy challenge going on for the next couple of weeks. You have an opportunity to win a butterfly set of stamps from Penguin Pants, too cute. All you have to do is make a card with wings and upload to the Flight of Fancy gallery over there!! Here's mine, not quite what I was planning but the plan in my head was just not coming together so I had to come up with this one quite late!!

April showers...

...well, we've had a wet and yucky Saturday here in the east. Spring has arrived, finally, I guess. Spring has also got me thinking about Mother's Day cards and as I was blog surfing this morning I came across a gorgeous little card at Jen del Muro's blog and knew right away that I had to make one for my mother-in-law, she's an avid gardener. Thanks for the inspiration Jen, I hope you don't mind me copying you, but I just had to make this.

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

What a beautiful sunny day we had today, but terribly windy and cold. I am so looking forward to some nice warm spring days!! I got a new spring haircut today, it feels so much better!! I am getting my living room and hall painted on Thursday, so my house will even have a fresh look for spring, Yayyyyy.

Here are a couple of cards I made for Becky Fleck's Page Maps for March's new card maps. She emailed me a sketch and I made both of these for her to choose from, she chose this one.

I think I actually prefer this one, I love the colors on this one and that Scenic Route paper is so nice!! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. Tomorrow's my Friday, love it. I am taking Thursday off to work on our paint job with my sweet honey and Friday's Good Friday, love short weeks!!!

CPS #55

I just love the sunshiney look to this Fun in the Sunshine card. I made this for the CPS blog #55. I really love this sketch and I haven't played along on their blog for so long that I decided to give this one a try. I used Tres Jolie papers and the chipboard accents are all from the $$ Store, they were a perfect match for this paper!!

HB2U

I was honored when Cards Magazine asked me to do a card for their sketch for the One Sketch - Four Ways feature in their Dec./Jan. '08 magazine. They sent me the sketch and this is what I came up with. I love the colors on this. The black and white papers are Doodlebug as well as the paper frills. Flowers are Primas, Making Memories, Lil Davis and Heidi Swapp. Used some paint on teh flowers and Voila!!!
I've got a question for you. Can you give away the cards that you've had published or do you have to keep them for remembrance sake? I'd love to give them away, but just can't seem to let go of them!!!

Storm day today...

so we are staying inside today and just being plain ole lazy. I needed a day like this. I am even still in my nightgown and it's almost suppertime!! Oh I probably shouldn't admit that, but who cares, I never get to do this. I've done a little homework, got a bit of baking done, did a load of laundry and now I've even got leftovers to feed the kids for supper!! haha. The only thing missing from my day was time in my crafty room to play with some paper. But I do have a card to post. Caardvarks just posted the latest challenge, we're taking a trip--a Caard Trip, it is a transporation challenge. You have to make a card that relates to any form of transporation that you can think of. Here's my contribution to the team. It is a little bit of a departure for me, but well Caardvarks is a challenge blog, isn't it? Hope you like it. Hope you are all staying warm today, don't forget we spring ahead on Saturday night. Yayyy, I can almost feel summer, even on this storm day!!!

Saturday, March 1, 2008

Helloooooooo

anybody out there!!! It's me...remember me!!! It's been forever since I posted. I've been so busy with school and home. Plus I've been working on a few things that I can't post yet, shhhh!! Have you been over to Caardvarks yet today, we've got a Micro Challange going on til tomorrow night. CARDSTOCK ONLY, NO PATTERNED PAPER!! Think you can do it?? Go give it a try!! There are some awesome cards in the gallery so far. Here's my contribution to the challenge....

Here's another challenge I've been working on over at L'il Scrappers, what a fun site, you should go check them out, and I love the fact that their Canadian!! Yay!! The challenge was Blossoms & Bling so this is what I came up with.
Hope you all are having a great weekend and I hope it won't take me another month to make a post here!! hahaha.

Catching up at home today..

I had such a busy weekend that I didn't have a chance to get anything done at home so I am playing catch-up today. I have been struggling with the latest challenge at Caardvarks this month. We were sent some really fun stamps from Queen Kat Designs to use for the month's challenges and I am being challenged, I must say. This is one of the cards I came up with, I am quite pleased with how this turned out. I hope they like it too. I used the XOXO stamp and stamped it on black scribbler paper that I stole from my daughter, shhhh. I then cut a chipboard heart and painted it and covered it with red glitter. The felt swirls are from Queen & Co. (I think). All in all, I think it turned out OK.

Saturday, January 26, 2008

Boy, it's ben a while...

since a posted last. Things have been busy around here and my creativity low!! I am just enjoying January. I love the quietness that this month brings, no obligations, no shopping, nothing to do if I don't want to, aahhhhhh!! I have a couple of cards here to post. The first one is for the challenge going on this month over at Caardvarks, they are having a Blue Moon challenge right now and you either have to make a blue card or a card with a celestial theme. Both of these taxed my creativity as I am not a blue person, nor do I have anything on the celestial line. I used a Guylain Belgian Seashell box for the stars on this, haha and I love the quote, I thought it would be appropriate for a Graduation card or something.

The next card is for my niece, she's having a baby in February and her shower is next Sunday. I totally lifted this adorable idea from Meera D'Souza, she had a similar card in the Dec./Jan. 08 issue of PaperTrends magazine. I like how this turned out, it is more green than yellow though IRL!! Hope you are all having a great weekend, hope you are still stopping by, it's been so long since I posted anything new!!!

Happy New Year Everyone

Phew, I am glad the holidays are over!! I know, I know, call me scrooge. I love all the work that goes into preparing for the holidays, I love shopping, baking, cooking......but I am always so glad when everything has settled down again. I love January, it is such a slow month, no birthdays in our family, nothing that we have to do, STRESS FREE!! I just need to take my tree down on the weekend and put away all the decorations and I'll be a happy girl.

Here are a few cards I've made this past month for the brand new challenge going on right now at Caardvarks. We have a brand new Becky Fleck card map to work with that she created exclusively for Caardvarks, go on over and check out the gallery, phenominal work there not only from the DT but also from everyone playing along.
