A perfect Sunday...

had by all. We had friends over this afternoon for a visit and then another friend over for supper tonight with his kids, God bless friends!! This fits perfectly with Melissa Phillips contest on her blog this weekend. We were challenged to make a Friendship card with all her favorite things: buttons, hearts, polka dots, ribbon, chipboard and all in the theme of friends. Here is my interpretation of her challenge. I used Doodlebug and Pebbles Inc. patterned papers, May Arts ribbon, MM glitter letters, Michaels stamped friends quote (thanks Carla), and chipboard heart that I covered in cardstock and chipboard coaster that I covered in the Doodlebug paper. I think this also qualifies for the Caardvarks Cropcircles challenge. Here it is.

Happy Birthday Pat

My buddy Pat http://patspapercreations.blogspot.com/ is having a birthday today and she has decided to take the day off work and go fishin' with her honey!! What a way to spend the day, I do hope the sun shines for her and Paul. I will miss her at work today so I wanted to post this card that I made for her. She is such a sweet person and I think the world of her!!! I'll see you tomorrow Pat!! Hugs Mrs. Hines!!!

CPS #18

Another week half over and only three more full days of school left!! YIKES, how am I going to keep my children entertained all summer?? How will I get my card making time in?? I'll miss that big yellow bus!! Oh I am such a bad mother, aren't I??

Here's my take on CPS sketch and Caardvarks challenge this week. I used a transparency for the card front and the pink circle and flower is on the inside. I did some wacky sewing around the edges and painted brown dots all around the outside of my circle!!

Happy HumpDay everyone, the weekend is almost here!! Hugs guys!

Happy Father's Day

Today is Father's Day and I am with mixed emotions. I am a little melancholy today for my father. This is my second Father's Day without him and I miss him so much. On the upside though I am so blessed to have Mark in my life and he is the most wonderful father for our children, we love you Daddy!! Not much planned here for Father's Day as he's working til 7:30 tonight, oh the life of a shift worker!! We are making two of his favorite things for a late supper with him tonight - Lasagna and Pumpkin Pie. Should make his tummy happy. The kids are excited to give him his presents and here is his card!! Hope you all enjoy your day with those special men in your life!!

Can you say Scraplift!!

Well, sometimes creativity just doesn't come to you and you've got to look elsewhere!! This is what I did here. Melissa Phillips has a card in the June/July issue of Papercrafts to thank teachers and I copied it pretty much exactly, just changed the papers and size. Even the star cut in pieces is lifted from another card she did!! What can I say, she is an inspiration to so many of us!! Thanks Melissa!!

Just goofin' around!!

Just working on a couple of challenges before I go to work today!! I love mornings!!

Something old,

Something new,

Something borrowed,

Something blue! That is the challenge this week at the Daring Cardmakers Blog. You have to use all those things. My old is the old brooch I used to wear about 20 years ago, I just took the pin off the back. My new is the strip of Chatterbox rub on along the bottom, I thought it went very well with the Crate paper. Something borrowed are the flower punches I borrowed off a card someone had sent me, (sorry, I know that's a terrible thing to do, but they just went to well with this paper) I think the flowers are a little too busy to go along with that paper, but it's all that I had to work with. And the something blue, of course, is the blue ribbon. Fun challenge, and what a challenge it was, took me a while!!

The other card is for the Sketch This challenge this week, #16. I used the brand new Creative Imaginations papers I just bought at my LSS, if they weren't closing out in two weeks I probably never would've bought it ( I think I am in panic mode) but I am glad I did, I like the way this card turned out. And that gorgeous ribbon I got in a ribbon swap a while back matches it perfectly.

Well, it's been a busy weekend, worked Friday and Saturday and had friends over Saturday night, little slow and sleepy on Sunday, and as much as I wanted to go play in my happy room I just didn't have it in me. I finally got down there this morning and made this card for the Daring Card Makers challenge this week, their challenge was to make a Celestial card. Here's my attempt. I bought this new paper at my LSS last week, they are almost closed :( and the 'B' is AC thicker that I added yellow dots to with paint. Cut my own star from chipboard and covered in cardstock. Hope you're all having a great week!!

It's been a while

since I posted anything here, I guess I had a busy week last week. I got an email from PaperCrafts last week and they want not one, but two of my cards for their Dec/Jan issue. I was so excited!!! I can't wait to see them in print!! Here's a couple I just made this weekend. Darling Girl is made with Imaginisce papers and Magnolia rubons.
The second one is a Transparency card. I love the look of these and have been wanting to try one for a while now. I stitched strips of Tres Jolie together and then sewed down the sides to attach to back of transparency. Then I added the flower and rubon to a piece of Tres Jolie and adhered to the front of the card. I added the polka dot rub on to the front of the transparency too. I am really pleased with how it turned out. It is also the CPS sketch this week. Hope you all have a great week.
